Emanuel Ungaro in Paris
Emanuel Ungaro’s collection for fall 2010 was a mélange of flirty cocktail and day dresses, as well as casual pant-and-blouse combos. The loose, easy fabrics and artfully carefree styling made these pieces appealing in an effortlessly chic way. The cleverly crinkled fabric of the structured cocktail dresses made them appear as if you could stuff one in a suitcase and pull it out looking just as good as it did on the runway (not that you’d ever wear the same dress twice, of course). As well as solids, polka dots made a strong showing at Ungaro. From high-waisted, gathered skirts to strapless jumpsuits, the pattern added splashes of fun to the sophisticated collection.
There were knee-length dresses with high, ruffled collars; plunging necklines with gorgeous draping in jewel-toned colors; asymmetrical, structured bodices paired with loose trousers; and beautifully tailored blazers to throw on for an instant outfit upgrade. The colors used other than black and white were all rich and eye-catching: true red, hot pink, and pigment green were the favorites. This collection is the ideal wardrobe for a young Parisian socialite with a jet-setting lifestyle. Charlotte Gainsbourg, take note: these clothes were made for you.
