At Serendipity, you'll find a treasure, you didn't know you were looking for
By Allison Daniels

Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking with Kay Winslet, owner of Serendipity Boutique, Beauty, and Day Spa in Franklin. She shared with me some of her favorite products, as well as great skincare advice for the spring and summer seasons, and the inside scoop on Serendipity’s most requested treatments.

Serendipity is an upscale boutique and day spa located in Historic Franklin, TN.  They opened their doors in October 2005. The small, locally owned company specializes in facials, waxing and massages.  Serendipity offers several makeup and skincare lines, as well as great gift items. You can find a list of brands and products, as well as a full listing of treatments (including descriptions and pricing info) on their website, www.serendipityfranklin.com.

Talking with Winslet, I learned about Serendipity’s Glo Minerals lip crayon. This unique product offers color and definition, as well as moisture and shine. Winslet said,

“It is not a pencil and it is not a gloss.”

It combines the two in one do-it-all product. The crayon costs about $16 and comes in five spring-friendly shades.

On the skincare front, Serendipity emphasizes exfoliation and sun protection. These are two important steps in any skincare regimen all year round, but especially in spring. Exfoliation is imperative to rid skin of that dull, dead winter layer, and sun protection is paramount to keep skin looking youthful despite long summer days spent in the garden or on the beach.

Serendipity offers an Ahava line, a cosmetics enterprise indigenous to the Dead Sea region. With a mineral base, the products aid skin cells.  Their sunscreen selection is water-resistant, offering SPFs from 15-50 in both spray and lotion forms, each for about $25.

Treatments offered at Serendipity run the gamut of beautification and relaxation. From waxes to facials to massage, Serendipity provides the kind of selection you would expect from a much larger enterprise. Their impressive range of treatments is priced from $10 (for a chin wax) to $175 (for The Ultimate Facial), which makes it a place for any budget.

Serendipity’s most popular facial is the MD Alpha Beta Peel Facial. This facial reduces pore size and evens skin tone, minimizing areas of discoloration, as well as treating acne and rosacea and enhancing radiance and clarity. It is basically a one-stop shop for every skin concern, offering great results with minimal downtime. Serendipity also carries at-home peel kits with 5 different acids for a DIY facial experience.

This spa had not been on my radar until the editor of Couture recently mentioned it to me. Now, after browsing the website and talking to Winslet, I can’t wait to set up an appointment for myself! Located at 405 Main Street, Franklin, TN, they are easy to find, and offer convenient hours (10-5 Mon-Thurs, 10-6 Fri-Sat). Next time you feel like you deserve a little pampering, call and make an appointment with one of the lovely ladies at Serendipity.
